“How to be a good supervisor”
Workshop for PhD supervisors
Principal investigators and PhD supervisors are usually faced with considerable challenges of supervision, especially due to recent changes in PhD qualification. In health sciences, the challenges might be even larger due to clinical responsibilities next to research, teaching, and PhD supervision.
Course Description
This half-day intensive workshop aims to focus on participant’s everyday challenges of PhD supervision. In practical exercises, participants will exchange their experiences in small groups. Additionally, the experienced trainer will give information about best practices on supervision in doctoral education.
After the workshop participants will be aware of:
- Mutual expectations related to supervision and leadership
- Their own strengths and shortcomings as supervisor of a PhD student
- Promising practices in supervising a PhD student
Participants
Open for all experienced post-docs up to the professorial level of PPHS. Max. 10 participants. The workshop is tailored to the needs of the participants in that we consider their respective career stages.
